Well Bento Ingredients
Beans - are rich in minerals and B vitamins.
Research indicates that legumes contain several anti-cancer agents
and are high in Omega-3 fatty acids.
Brown rice - Milling and polishing destroys
at least 50%of vitamins, and 100% fiber. Brown rice has only
the outer hull removed. Consequently,
its vitamin and fiber content is maintained. Brown rice is an
excellent source of niacin, B6, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus,
selenium,
E, and lysine. These qualities help in energy production, synthesis
of fatty acids, antioxidant, regulating calcium, supporting thyroid
function, immune function, bone growth, healthy collagen, and
reduces the risk of colon cancer and LDL cholesterol. We use California
grown Lundberg brown rice in which no pesticides or fertilizers
had been used. Broccoli - is a nutrient-dense superfood, high
in carotiniods and vitamin C , B-Complex, calcium, phosphourus,
potassium-broccoli is rich in chromium; in minerals that help protect
from diabetes.
Cabbage - rich in vitamin C, protective indoles
and fiber, B complex, magnesium, and potassium.
Carrots - lowers blood cholesterol and cuts risk of cancer if
eaten daily, rich in sources of carotenoids, B-vitamins, phosphorous,
calcium, iodine.
Onions - stimulate the adrenal gland, good for spleen, pancreas,
stomach, lymphatic system, and are calming on the nervous system.
Daikon- helps digest fat and aids in the elimination of animal
proteins.
Gobo - (a.k.a. Burdock Root) is traditionally
used as a blood purifier, supports the stomach in the breaking
down of nutrients.
Hamburger steak and Steak - Red meat is an excellent
source of macro and trace minerals*zinc and magnesium, rich in
vitamin B12-good for a healthy nervous system and blood, and
carnitine-essential for healthy heart function, fat soluble vitamins
that your body
needs to utililize minerals in all foods. Beef fat is rich in
conjugated linoleic acid, which has a strong anticancer effect,
and palmitoleic
acid, which protects us from viruses and other pathogens.
Hijiki - is a sea vegetable high in calcium and
iron, A, B12. Kabocha - provides
carotenoids, vitamin C, potassium, calcium, and fiber. Squash
and other deep orange vegetable are effective in preventing lung
cancer.
Macaroni Salad & Cole Slaw - Made fresh
daily, our macaroni salad and cole slaw are mayonaise-free (that
is, dairy and egg-free). We make it fresh on a daily basis.
Mushrooms - contain protein, phosphorous, potassium,
calcium, iron, B-complex, selenium. Olive
Oil - We use only Extra Virgin olive oil, which
is made from ripe olives extracted from the first pressing.
Olive oil is a healthy fat that assists your body in the
absorbtion of fat-soluable vitamins A, D, E, & K.
Potatoes - provide Vitamin C and B-Complex,
calcium, potassium, and iron. Most nutrients are just under
the skin, the skin itself is full of fiber.
Tahini Gravy - Our tahini gravy
is so good.
Made from vegetables and hulled sesame paste daily. This nut Fat
is low fat and high in methionine and tryptophan, two amino acids
usually lacking in vegetable foods. The “gravy” is
essential in the balance of carbs, proteins, and fat that makes
your body feel energized, clean and light.
Tamari - literally means “liquid pressed
from soy beans.” Originally it was the thick brown liquid
that pooled in casks of fermenting soy bean miso. For centuries,
tamari was a rare delicacy, reserved for special occcasions. Tamari
is wheat-free and popular with those who have wheat allergies because
it is a fermented food product, and easy to digest.
Tempeh - made from fermented whole soybean,
is high in Vitamin
B12 and mild and nutty in flavor. Tofu - We use Organic Tofu. Soy, high in B12,
may help in protecting against cancer.
Salmon - Fish is the health food par excellence-promotes
growth and bone structure, protects from degenerative diseases,
lowers
coronary
heart disease, and is a source of macro and trace minerals, iodine
and zinc. Deep sea and oily fish are rich in Omega3, and other
long chain fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, & K.
Seitan - (Say-tahn) is Chef Todd’s specialty
that he makes daily. Seitan is made from organic stone ground whole
wheat. It is soaked and washed until only the gluten remains. Then
it is cooked and cured. This process takes a few Hours to completion
and is a labor of love. |
